Lesson Plan

Dr. Doug Andersen (former Sports Nutritionist for the NHL LA Kings and numerous A-List Celebs, as well as ACBSP Sports Chiropractor of the Year in 2003) has treated athletes, movie stars and execs for over 3 decades and has presented research around the world. Dr. Andersen will discuss research correlated to how diet, body fat and systemic inflammation all influence exercise and health.

Objectives:

– Define and Explain Inflammation.
– Discuss Pro and Anti inflammatory diets.
– Compare healthy and harmful dietary choices that influence inflammation.
– Discuss how exercise can increase and decrease inflammation levels in humans.
– Review why excessive stored energy (aka body fat) is pro-inflammatory.
– Recall how inflammation affects recovery.
– Discuss suggestions and solutions for addressing fat loss, inflammation and exercise

Douglas Andersen, DC Douglas Andersen, DC

Dr. Doug Andersen graduated Magna Cum Laude from chiropractic college and has been in practice for over 3 decades. He is a Certified Clinical Nutritionist and for 20 years wrote a monthly nutrition column for Dynamic Chiropractic. He is also a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians and is the former medical director of the Association of Volleyball Professionals pro beach volleyball tour. Dr. Andersen has also treated athletes around the world for the Association of Surfing Professionals and International Triathlon Union (team USA). He was the nutritionist for the Los Angeles Kings from 1999 to 2002 and was named Sports Chiropractor of the Year 2003. He is a part-time adjunct facility member for Southern California College of Health Sciences and, has been a popular speaker for continuing education seminars in Southern California and Arizona for the last 10 years. He maintains a private practice in Brea, Ca.
